How to use coupon codes safely
Safety checklist for promo codes: phishing, fake extensions, expired coupons, and how CouponFinders labels Active vs Expired offers.
Coupon codes save money when they are real — and waste time (or worse) when they come from shady pop-ups. Use this checklist before you paste anything at checkout.
Stay on the merchant site
Apply codes on Amazon, Flipkart, Nike, Target, etc. Never enter your card on a random “unlock coupon” interstitial.
Skip browser extensions you do not trust
Some extensions inject affiliate redirects or scrape carts. If you use one, pick a reputable vendor and review permissions.
Read minimum order and exclusions
Fashion coupons especially exclude sale items. If the code rejects, the terms — not the site — are usually why.
How we label offers
- Verified — recently checked flow
- Active — believed current
- Unverified — confirm at checkout
- Expired — kept only so you do not chase dead codes
